Student Impact

I really loved the NOW Program, and I also had amazing experiences there, and I also made new friends there before the first day of high school! I learned new things about high school that helped so much this year. It also helped me succeed in different activities and work. I also learned about the school system in Canada, and it was super fun. I will always keep this as a great memory. I love the Newcomer hub so much, and I'm also learning new things, and I love helping the staff. I learned about the new cultures and festivals of Canada, e.g., Thanksgiving, Orange Shirt Day, etc. I'm hoping to learn more historical stories about Canada next so I can spend my time hearing stories."

Parent Empowerment

As a newcomer to Canada, CCS SWIS services helped me build confidence and prepare for the Canadian workplace. After completing retail, customer service, and cash-handling training through CCS, I secured a front-end checkout position at Walmart. I am very grateful for the guidance and support CCS provided throughout my journey.

School Partnership

My name is Catalina Quintana, a teacher at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Academy. I have been a teacher supervisor for the NOW program for more than 20 years, so I feel grateful for the opportunity I had, and I hope the program continues to welcome newcomers to Canada for a long time. Settlement workers and staff of Catholic Cross-Cultural Services have done wonderful work in this program, supporting students who have recently arrived in Canada.
